6. 9 Tips on bargaining in all most anything : Nothing is off-limit with negotiating price.
거의 모든 협상에 도움이 되는 팁(1) : 가격 협상에 있어 제한 구역이란 없다.

<Bargain like a pro>
When it comes to negotiating a price, remember that nothing is off-limits.
가격협상에서는 제한구역이 없다는 걸 기억하세요.
  - When it comes to : ~ 에 있어서
  - off limit : 출입금지구역, 제한구역

You can bargain all most anything from your hospital bills to your credit card bills.
병원비용부터 신용카드 청구액까지 거의 모든 게 협상가능합니다.

Take the following advice.
다음의 조언을 유념하세요.

1. Be discreet. 신중을 기하라.
  - discreet: 신중하다

Never haggle with the sales person in front of large group of shoppers.
구매자들이 잔뜩있는 앞에서 판매자와 흥정하지 마세요.
  -haggle: 흥정하다 (=bargain)

Who would want to negotiate with you if they have to give same deal to ten other people?
똑같은 딜을 다른 열명에게도 해줘야 한다면 누가 나와 협상하려 하겠습니까.

2. Be diplomatic. 외교적 수완을 발휘하라.

Being sweet, kind and gentle will win every time.
상냥하고 친절하고 부드러운 태도는 언제나 이깁니다.

Sales people respond better to friendly customers than demanding customers.
판매자들은 요구가 많은 고객보다 다정한 고객에게 더 잘 응대합니다.

Show them you are open and willing to work with them.
열린 마음으로 상대와 함께 일하겠다는 자세로 임하세요.

3. Give them an incentive to bargain with you.
나와 협상할만한 인센티브를 주라.
  - incentive : 장려책, 인센티브

If you are at a car dealership, tell them you bring your car back to them for repairs.
자동차 대리점에서라면, 수리는 그 대리점에 맡길거라고 얘기해주세요.

If you are at a local shop, tell them you always try to support neighborhood businesses.
지방 판매점에 가면, 나는 언제나 지방 판매자들을 후원하려 한다고 말하는겁니다.

Merchant will be more inclined to offer you a better price these kind of incentives.
상인들은 이런 인센티브가 있으면, 더 좋은 가격을 제공하고 싶은 마음이 들겁니다.
  -  be inclined to :~의 경향이 있다,  ~로 쏠리다, ~로 치우치다

6.8 How to bargain Corporate dealings : The demand has been waxing and waning.
   가격 협상하기(기업 간 거래) : 수요가 등락을 거듭했습니다.

안녕하세요, 세르게이. 우리 거래를 재협상할때가 된거 같은데요.

Yeah, I kind of saw this coming since our last contract was three years ago.

As you know, the demand for plywood here has been waxing and waning a lot since last year.
아시다시피 지난해부터 이곳의 합판에 대한 수요가 많은 등락을 거듭했습니다.

  - wax and wane : 올랐다 내렸다, 흥하다가 이울다.

Experts are saying that it may take up to two years before the demand progressively goes up again.  
전문가들은 이 수요가 꾸준히 오르기까지는 2년까지 걸릴 수 있다고 하고요.
  - progressively : 꾸준히, 계속해서

So give me a number. What would you be happy with?
그럼 가격을 제시해주시죠. 어느정도면 만족하시겠습니까?

We've been paying 760 dollars per bundle for the past 36 months.
That is on top of the 1000 dollars for the broker every month.
지난 36개월간 한 묶음당 760달러 지불했었죠. 거기에 매월 브로커 비용 천달러 있었고요.

We would appreciate it if you drop the bundle fee to 730 dollars and split the brokerage fee 70:30

I want a compact passenger car with great fuel economy.
연비 좋은 소형 승용차요.
  - compact : 소형의
  - fuel economy : 연비 (=fuel efficiency, gas mileage)

I see. Sedan or coupe?
네, 세단 보시나요, 쿠페 보시나요?
 (*세단은 문이 4개, 바퀴 4개 달린 일반 승용차. 쿠페는 문이 2개, 대체로 스포츠카들이다.)

I prefer a sedan. Which one do you recommend?
세단이 좋습니다. 추천해주실만한 거 있나요?

The new JCN a4 is a great choice. the sticker price is 23000$. But I'm sure I can get you you a better deal  with great options.

6. 6 How to bargain at the market :  You drive a hard bargain.
   (시장에서)협상하기 : 끈질기게 흥정하시네요!

How much is this vase?  이 꽃병은 얼만가요?

I will give you a special rate at 65 dollars. 특별가로 65달러에 드리죠.

Whoa, That's a bit stiff. how about 45? 어휴, 좀 비싼데요? 45달러 어때요?
  - stiff : 매우 비싼

This is a hand- made pottery from Venice, Italy. 이거 이탈리아 베니스산 수제 도기에요.
This kind of handy work doesn't come cheaply. 이런 수공품은 싸지 않는다구요.
But since it's a beautiful day, I will drop it down to 60. 하지만 좋은 날이니까 60달러까지 깎아드릴게요.

Common, The guy across the street was offering the same vase for 50.
에이, 길건너편에선 같은 꽃병을 50달러에 주겠다고 하던데요.

I assure you that he is not hand made and certainly not from Venice.
