6.30 Question from a listener : Can you clearly distinguish the difference between fewer and less?   청취자 질문 : 'Fewer'과 'less'의 차이를 명확히 구분해 주세요.

I'm often confused between 'fewer' and 'less'.
fewer와 less가 종종 헷갈려요.

Can you clearly tell me the difference between the two words?
두 단어의 차이를 명확히 알려주세요.

Fewer is used when you can literally count something and less is used all other situations.
fewer는 말그대로 수를 셀 수 있는 곳에 사용되고, less는 다른 모든 상황에서 사용됩니다.

That is why we  classify few as a countable adjective, and less as an uncountable adjective.
그래서 few는 가산형용사고, less는 불가산형용사로 분류하는거죠.
  - classify : 분류하다, 구분하다

Examples of few : Juchi has fewer shirts than Kaylin. Or Alice worked fewer hours than Jim.
fewer의 예 : 주치는 케일린보다 셔츠를 적게 가지고 있다. 또는 앨리스는 짐보다 적게 근무했다.

Examples of less: I have less time to read nowadays  than before.  Or this cup has less water than that one.
less 의 예 : 난 예전보다 책 읽을 시간이 적다. 또는 이 컵은 저 컵보다 물이 적다.

However there's an exception to this rule.
하지만 이 규칙에 예외가 있습니다.

Less can be used for singular nouns, especially with time, money, distance and weight.
less 는 특히 시간, 돈, 거리 무게를 말할 때 단수명사로 사용될 수 있습니다.

For example, he works less than 30 hours a week / She makes less than 1000 dollars a month. / The mall is less than 5 miles from here. Or Juchi weighs less than 90 kilograms.
예를 들어볼게요. 그는 주 30 시간보다 적게 일한다. / 그녀는 한달에 천달러보다 적게 번다. / 그 쇼핑몰은 여기서 5마일보다 가깝다. 또는 주치는 90킬로보다 몸무게가 적게 나간다.

I've evaluated your work performance along with your supervisor and I'm afraid this isn't working out.

1. You employment with Success group has been terminated as of today.

  - as of today : 오늘 부로

2. I don't want to waste your time or mine, so I will give it to you straight. This job isn't right for you.

3. All the leaders are in accord that you're just not cutting it at this company.
