1.22 Talk about the meetings you have at work
      업무상 참석하는 회의에 대해 얘기해봅시다.

I have to attend various meetings at work.
회사에서 여러 회의에 참석해야 합니다.
  -attend : 참석하다

We have a regular meeting every Monday morning before we start the week.
한 주를 시작하기 전, 매일 월요일 아침 정기적으로 회의합니다.

We go over the progress that has been made on various projects.
다양한 프로젝트의 진척상황을 검토합니다.
  - go over : 검토하다, 훑어보다

We also check the dead lines and sales numbers.
기한과 매출수치도 확인합니다.

We take turns making presentations on our own projects.
자신이 맡은 프로젝트에 대해 돌아가며 경과보고를 합니다.
  -  take turns: 번갈아가면서 하다
    (ex: We take turns taking care of our baby. 우리는 돌아가면서 아기를 돌봅니다.)

Next we have ad-hoc meetings when we have to address some issues.
어떤 문제를  다루기 위해 즉석 회의를 합니다.
-  ad-hoc : 즉석의, 임시의 (ad-hoc team:임시팀)
 
We do some brainstorming and exchange ideas at these meetings.
회의에서 브레인스토밍을 하고 의견을 주고받습니다.

We also come up with solutions for problems that occur .
발생한 문제의 해결책도 제시합니다.
  - come up with ~: ~를 생각해내다, 제시하다

Some meetings take place during lunch time.
점심 시간에 회의를 할 때도 있습니다.

In that case we talk over lunch.
그럴 경우 점심 먹으면서 이야기합니다.
  - talk over ~ : ~하면서 얘기하다.
  (ex: Let's talk over coffee. : 커피 먹으며 얘기하자.)

Overall some meetings  are quite short, while others can last for hours. 
짧은 회의도 있고, 몇 시간동안 계속되는 회의도 있습니다.

B: Oh, Really? 그래?
A: Yeah, I have a schedule conflict. I won't be at the office. 응. 일정이 겹쳐서 그때 사무실에 없을거야.
B: I will fill in for you. Don't worry. 내가 대신 갈게. 걱정마.




1.21 Talk about the bath room products you use at home
    집에서 사용하는 욕실 제품들을 이야기해봅시다

I have various types of soap products in my bath room.
욕실에 다양한 형태의 비누가 있습니다.

I use liquid soap to wash my hands.
손씻는데 액상비누를 씁니다.

They create less of a mess than bar soap.
그게 일반비누보다 덜 지지분합니다.
   - create less of a mess : 덜 지저분해지다. 더 깔끔하다
  (ex: It saves time and also create less of a mess. 그게 시간도 절약하고 덜 지저분해져. )

To undo my makeup, I use eyeliner remover and cleansing oil.
메이크업을 지울 때 아이라이너 리무버나 클렌징오일을 사용합니다.
  - undo one's makeup : 화장 지우다.
  (ex: It's really a hassle to undo my makeup. 화장지우는 거 정말 귀찮아.
       I fell sleep last night without undoing my makeup. 어제 화장지우지도 않고 잤어.)

And then I use cleansing foam to wash my face again.
그런 다음 세안제로 다시 세수합니다.
  - wash my face : 세수하다
  (ex: I didn't even wash my face last night. 어제 밤에 세수하지도 않았어.
       I wash my face thoroughly to remove my makeup 화장을 지우려고 아주 꼼꼼히 세수했다.)

As for dental products, I use tooth paste and tooth brush to brush my teeth.
치아용품으로, 이를 닦을 때 쓰는 치약과 치솔이 있습니다.

I also have some mouthwash and dental floss in the bathroom.
구강청결제와 치실도 있습니다.

For my hair, I have several types of shampoo and conditioner.
헤어제품으로 여러 종류의 샴푸와 컨디셔너가 있습니다.
  - shampoo : 샴푸(명), 머리감다(동) / rinse: 헹구다
    (ex: Shampoo your hair: 머리감아
         Rinse your hair with your conditioner. 컨디셔너로 머리를 헹궈내)

I buy the big ones because I can get more for my money that way.
큰 걸 사는데요, 그러면  저렴하게 구매할 수 있거든요.
  - can get more for money : 저렴하게 살 수 있다.
   (ex: You can get more for your money during sales. 세일기간중엔 더 저렴하게 구매할 수 있습니다.
        Wise shopper always think about how to get more for their money. 현명한 소비자들은 항상 어떻게 더 저렴하게 살수 있는지 생각합니다.

Last of all I have hair styling spray that I use to style my hair.
마지막으로 머리를 손질하기 위한 스프레이가 있습니다
  - style my hair : 머리를 손질하다
    (ex: The hair stylist style my hair with a hair dryer: 미용사가 드라이기로 머리를 손질해줬다.
         I usually style my hair with hair wax. 주로 왁스로 머리를 손질합니다.)

B: I cut my self while I was shaving. 면도하다 베었어.
A: Ouch, I bet that hurt a lot. 아우, 엄청 아팠겠는데.
B: It was't that bad. I need to get new blades for my razor. 그렇게 아프진 않았어. 면도날을 새로 갈아야겠어.







1. 20 Talk about when you had to change an appointment
      예약을 바꿔야 했던 경험을 얘기해봅시다.

I remember a time when I was supposed to get my hair done at the hair salon.
미용실에서 머리를 하기로 한 적이 있었어요.
  - be supposed to : ~ 하기로 하다/되어있다
  - get my hair done : 머리를 하다

I had a hair appointment on a Saturday.
어느 토요일에 미용실 예약이 있었습니다.
  -on a Saturday : 어느 토요일 ('a'를 넣어서 불특정 느낌을 줌)

However something came up suddenly that day and I couldn't make it on time.
그런데 그날 갑자기 일이 생겨서, 제때에 못 갔습니다.
  -make it on time: 제 시간에 맞추다
  (ex: I barely made it on time for my train: 가까스로 열차시간에 맞춰 탔다.)
       I think I can't make it today. 오늘 못갈거 같은데.)

 I called the hair salon and asked them to reschedule my appointment.
미용실에 전화해서 예약을 바꿔달라고 부탁했습니다.
  - reschedule : 일정을 변경하다
  (ex: I need to reschedule my appointment to next week. 다음주로 예약을 다시 잡아야 한다.)

I got my hair done the following weekend.
그 다음 주말에 머리를 했습니다.
  - the following day/week/year: (말하는 시점에서) 다음 날/다음 주/다음 해

There was also a time when I had to change my appointment at the dentist.
치과 예약을 바꿔야 했던 적도 있었어요.

I was making regular visits to the dentist to get my cavities filled.
충치치료를 하러 치과에 정기적으로 가고 있었습니다.
  - make regular visits: 정기방문 하다
  - cavities filled : 충치 치료

One day I got pretty sick and had to cancel my appointment.
하루는 아파서 갈 수 없어서 예약을 취소해야 했습니다.
  - cancel my appointment:  예약을 취소하다
  (ex: I'd like to cancel my appointment. I'm too busy these days. 예약을 취소하고 싶습니다. 요즘 너무 바빠서요. )

I made a new appointment and went to the dentist the following week.
새로 예약을 잡고 그 다음 주에 치과에 갔습니다.
  - make a new appointment :  약속을 새로 잡다
  (ex: I called and made a new appointment with my hairstylist. 전화해서 담당미용사와 예약을 다시 잡았다
       Why don't you just make a new appointment? 그냥 예약 새로 잡지 그래.)

B: Yeah, I meant to go to the dentist. 응 치과에 가려고 했었어.
A: Why didn't you?  왜 안갔어?
B: I got tie up with something and I moved my appointment to Thursday. 갈 수 없어서 목요일로 약속을 바꿨어.
   -get tie up with~: ~에 엮이다, 붙들려 있다. 바쁘다


1.19 Talk about how you use the microwave at home
      집에서 전자렌지를 어떻게 사용하는지 얘기해봅시다

<Text>
I make use of the microwave at home almost everyday
  거의 매일 전자렌지를 사용합니다.
- make use of : 이용하다, 활용하다

Of course I use it to warm food up.
물론 음식을 데우는 데 사용합니다.
  - warm up: 데우다, 준비운동하다
  (ex: I warm up milk in the microwave before I drink it: 우유를 데워서 마십니다.
       Let's warm up the leftovers in the microwave: 남은거 전자렌지로 데우자.)

For instance when I order pizza, I often end up with some leftovers.
예를 들어 피자 시키면 종종 남는데요.
  - end up with~ :결국엔 ~가 남다
   (ex: We often end up with some leftovers during the family holidays. 명절 때 음식이 남습니다)
  - leftover : 남은 음식 (주로 복수로 씀)

I put them in the freezer and then when I want them eat later on, I just nuke them in the microwave.
냉동실에 넣어뒀다가, 나중에 먹고 싶을 때 전자렌지에 돌립니다
  - freezer : 냉동실 (fridge: 냉장고)
  - nuke : 핵무기로 공격하다
    nuke something in the microwave : ~를 전자렌지 돌리다
   (ex: Just nuke it in the microwave if you don't have enough time 시간 없으면 그냥 전자렌지 돌려.)

They become as good as new.
거의 새것과 다름이 없죠.

As there are tons of instant food products these days,
요즘 엄청나게 많은 즉석요리 제품들이 있기 때문에,
  - instant food : 즉석요리 (라면, 햇반, 냉동피자 같은 간단히 요리할 수 있는 것들)

I use the microwave much more often than in the past.
예전보다 훨씬 더 많이 전자렌지를 사용합니다.

When I don't have time to cook rice in the rice cooker,
밥솥에 밥 할 시간이 없을때,

I just heat up instant rice in the microwave.
그냥 전자렌지에 즉석밥을 데웁니다.
  - heat up: 데우다
  (ex: Can you heat it up? 이거 좀 뎁혀 주실래요?
       Heat the leftover rice in the microwave 남은 밥 전자렌지로 뎁혀.)

They taste pretty much the same.
맛은 거의 비슷합니다.

Plus I use the microwave to defrost things that are frozen before I cook them.
요리 전에 얼려뒀던 걸 해동하려고 전자렌지를 사용합니다.
  - defrost: 해동하다
  (ex: I defrost the chicken before cooking it. 요리 전에 닭을 해동시킵니다)

1.18 Talk about the rice cookers used in Korea

As rice is the staple food on the dinner table,
밥이 주식이기 때문에,
  - staple food: 주식

Rice cookers are a must have item in Korean households.
한국가정에서 밥솥은 필수품입니다.
  - must have item : 필수품
   (ex: Coffee makers are a must have item for coffee lover. 커피 애호가에겐 커피머신이 필수품이다.)

Of course the main function of this kitchen appliance is to cook steamed rice.
물론 이 주방기기의 주요기능은 밥하는 겁니다.
  - home appliance: 가정기기/ kitchen appliance: 주방기기
  - white rice 백미=steamed rice / brown rice 현미

They have preset timers on them, so you can have them cook rice automatically in the morning.
예약타이머가 있어서 아침에 자동으로 밥을 지을 수 있습니다.
  - preset timers : 예약타이머
  (ex: Bandi application has preset timer on them. 반디 앱은 예약 타이머가 있죠)
       Preset timers come in very handy 예약타이머는 아주 유용합니다.)

You just have to set the timer before you go to bed. 
자기 전에 타이머 설정을 해야 합니다.

They cook pretty fast as well.
밥이 아주 빨리 되기도 합니다.

It only takes thirty minutes max to cook steamed rice.
밥 하는데 최대 30분 밖에 안 걸립니다.
  - take ~ max : 아무리 길어야 ~ 걸린다 (max=maximum) --> 구어체에서 많이 쓰임!
  (ex: When will you be ready? 2 mins max. 언제 다돼? 2분이면 돼!
       It takes 30 mins max to get there. 거기 가는데 30분이면 돼.)

Meanwhile rice cookers can do so much more than just cook rice these days as they have various functions .
한편 밥솥은 밥하는 거 말고도 다른 수많은 기능이 있습니다.
  - do so much more than~ : ~보다 훨씬 더 많이 하다
  (ex: He was able to do so much more than I expected. 그는 내 예상보다 더 능력자다.
        Smart phone can do so much more than just make calls. 스마트폰은 전화거는 거 보다 훨씬 많은 기능이 있다)

You can cook all sorts of stuff such as corn, eggs or sweet potatoes in them.
옥수수, 달걀, 고구마 처럼 온갖 종류를 요리할 수 있습니다.
  - all sorts of stuff: 온갖 종류
  (ex: I have all sorts of stuff on the balcony. 발코니에 온갖 종류의 물건이 있습니다.
        Buffet has all sorts of food. 뷔페에 가면 온갖 종류의 음식이 있다
        You can search for all sorts of stuff on the internet 인터넷에서 무엇이든 다 찾을 수 있지!)
